Pillar 3: Recommended Product: Xbox

Something I highly recommend that might be more of a personal opinion is the Xbox over PlayStation. Specifically Xbox One S and Xbox One X vs PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Xbox was created by Microsoft in 2001 and PlayStation was created by Sony in 1995. Throughout this article I’m going to highlight why I would recommend Xbox over the PlayStation.

First let’s look out the specs between the Xbox and the PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro). While the Xbox One X is currently an hundred dollars more it does make it worth that. The Xbox does have a slightly higher CPU at 2.3GHZ while the PlayStation has a 2.1. The Xbox also has 12GB of ram whereas PlayStation only has 8GB. Something that is need for all video games is a TV and now with TV’s going 4K you will want a gaming console to support that. Although both consoles support 4K the Xbox will give a cleaner look. This also has the effects on graphics in a video game. If you have movies that are ultra HD Blu-ray then you can only play them on Xbox where PS4 Pro can only support up to HD Blu-ray. The two console do have 4K streaming capabilities. Microsoft aims for games at 4K and 60FPS where some PS4 Pro games don’t meet those specifications. There are games PS4 Pro does support 4K at 60FPS but nothing to Xbox. If you want the native 4K look on games Xbox is the way to go. Something that they both have is the same storage at 1TB but that's not much for downloading 4K games. Something that might not be important to some of you but the Xbox One X is slightly smaller in size but is around a pound heavier.

Next let's talk about the games for each console. Both consoles have their own games that are only allowed on their systems like Halo on Xbox and Uncharted on PlayStation. Then there are games that can be played on both systems. Something Xbox does that amazes me is that games that you can download on Windows can also be on your Xbox because of Microsoft. I personally didn’t know that until I did so more research on both the systems. Something I do know and actually use on my Xbox is the backwards compatibility. For a low price $10 a month you can play handpicked games from earlier Xbox generations and download then on your Xbox One X. PS4 has this feature but its $20 a month and the games are on Sony’s servers which makes playing the game slower to respond. So if you are a nostalgic person the Xbox game pass has a better offer and a better system. You are also able to even use the disc form of certain Xbox 360 and even original Xbox games in the Xbox One X whereas PlayStation that is not possible yet.

There is one thing that I have to admit that PlayStation does better than Xbox and that is virtual reality (VR). Xbox currently doesn’t have anything for VR yet but when the Xbox One was released it included the Kinect. The kinetic is a small device that sits under or over the TV and senses your motion. It’s like a Nintendo Wii but without controllers. The Kinect is used to play certain games that require some movement like jumping or dancing. It was something new that required no controllers just your body.

PlayStation on the other hand does have VR that comes with a headset and two controllers one for each hand. I have to give this one to PlayStation but if you are not looking for the VR technology then Xbox is the way to go.

Finally Xbox is overall the best console on the market to date. I’ve been playing Xbox for about 10 years now and I have no plans on changing. I did however play PlayStation 2 which was huge amount of fun but once the Xbox 360 was released I went straight for it. There was a very brief moment when I played PlayStation 3 but it was nothing compared to the Xbox 360. I have always enjoyed all the Xboxes I’ve had and will continue with them. A reason I continue with Xbox is the user friendly home page. If you were new to Xbox you could easily find your way to where you want to go but with PlayStation it’s a different story. One of my friend has both Xbox and PlayStation and as I was looking at both the PlayStation home page was harder to navigate than Xbox which makes the Xbox that much greater. The Xbox One X has been considered the most powerful console beating the PlayStation 4 Pro. From the powerful specs to playing old games Xbox just does it best. If you are still trying to decide between the two then see what your friends play and go with them because that’s what makes video games fun.
